Tring Park School for the Performing Arts is one of the nine specialist Music and Dance Schools in the UK. Candidates should have ideally had at least 3 years training in Classical Ballet.

Classical ballet is the primary focus of the Dance Course. Pupils also study contemporary and jazz dance and have additional classes in pointe work, repertoire, virtuosity, pas de deux, solos, pilates, body conditioning and weights. Training is supplemented by RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern and Tap syllabus classes, all delivered via Saturday lessons.

  • Flexability assessment.
  • A prepared dance solo.
  • Physio screening.

    All candidates are required to attend an entrance audition for the school. These are held in the Autumn and Spring Term each year. Suitability for a place is determined on talent and potential shown at the time of audition.

    Final auditions take place in February or March of each year and successful candidates are offered places to start in the following September.

    Performance Foundation offers the opportunity to begin to focus on future course pathways whilst maintaining a strong core skills training in Acting, Singing, Music and Dance.

    This course prepares pupils for Sixth Form vocational training on either the Acting Course, the Musical Theatre Course or the Commercial Music Course at the school.

    Performance Foundation Junior (Years 7 – 9)

    What will I do in the audition?

    1. A modern dance class.
    2. A monologue.
    3. A musical theatre song to be performed from memory (selected from the list provided).

    Performance Foundation (Years 10 – 11)
