A unique private prep school education with an emphasis on performing arts and creativity.

Private prep school in Hertfordshire

Tring Park’s private prep school gives children a zest for life and aspirations to achieve in their chosen field. They are able to work academically and vocationally during the school day which ensures they develop a wide range of skills and the self-confidence that is required to prepare them for secondary school.

Pupils here are from a variety of different backgrounds, all with a passion for the performing arts. The pupils are treated as individuals and are all given equal opportunities to achieve and become the best that they can be.

Whilst at the prep school, your child will benefit hugely from being part of Tring Park’s large and internationally renowned performing arts school. These children have a varied and fulfilling day, participating in all areas of school life. They are supported not only by the prep teachers but by our dedicated team of pastoral staff who will ensure that your child feels secure and well cared for.

Prep School Curriculum

Children are taught in two mixed-age classes, and follow an integrated timetable moving between performing arts and academic lessons. Approximately one third of the pupils’ time is spent in vocational lessons and the remainder on more traditional academic subjects, sports and holistic activities such as mindfulness.

Alongside the more traditional curriculum, as a performing arts primary school, Tring Park Prep offers children a broad training in the performing arts,  giving pupils a foundation on which to build if they wish to progress through the School. The pupils study classical ballet, modern and tap dance as well as acting, music and choir. Emphasis is on establishing a good basic technique in all areas, whilst encouraging a passion for the performing arts.

The children are able to display their talents at many events throughout the year including open classes, the Christmas Carol Service and in their own, very popular, ‘Prep Show’ during the course of the year.

Prep School Facilities

Tring Park Prep is housed in a dedicated area of the school comprising two classrooms, changing and toilet facilities and an outdoor area for learning and play.

Academic subjects are taught in the Prep Classrooms by the Class Teachers, with some academic subjects, sport and all vocational areas taught by specialist teachers. They also have the added benefit of using other specialist teaching areas for their vocational training and some academic classes such as reading, French, art and ICT.

Pupils will study English, science, maths, history, geography, art and design, music, PE, computing, modern foreign languages, religious studies, citizenship and personal, social and health education (PSHE).
