We’re looking to appoint a Head of Classical Ballet Associates to ensure its smooth running on Sunday’s during term time.

About the role
The Classical Ballet Associates (CBA) introduces young boys and girls to the fundamentals of vocational training. The programme complements the student’s individual training with their regular ballet school and gives them an opportunity to work with other talented children who share the same goals and ambitions to have a career in dance. The successful candidate would be expected to teach at CBA too, which runs 6 Sundays per term.
The teaching hours of work will be Sundays during term time (6 per term), 10am to 4:15pm with a 45 minute lunch break and two 15 minute breaks; plus additional time as required to manage the CBA program. Salary is £49.59 per hour teaching rate, plus responsibility allowance of £3,000 per annum (can be job shared).
Main Duties
- To facilitate the smooth running of the Classical Ballet Associates in association with the Director of the Dance Course and Director of Studies.
- To have an oversight of the entire program, have the foresight to design the program and make changes as necessary in consultation with the Director of Dance.
- Ensure the marketing needs of CBA are communicated with the Marketing Manager i.e. assisting in planning photo shoots, keeping the website up to date and creating content for social media.
- To organise classes, auditions and assessments and facilitate the smooth running of this element.
- To recruit staff to teach on the course and any guest teachers required to deliver the timetable.
- To mentor the staff, organise CPD, and bring the teaching of the course in line with the main schools aims and objectives.
- To organise guest assessors when required from the main school.
- To liaise with parents and keep them fully informed of upcoming term dates and events.
- To undertake administrative duties with regards to correspondence with parents, whether that be by letter or email, keeping the CBA community informed of all matters related to their training.
- Work closely with the CBA administrator ensuring that excellent communication with staff, students and parents is clear and concise.
- Prepare documentation as requested by the Governors and the Director of Dance.
- To teach classical ballet as directed by the timetable.
- Have a close association with the Director of Dance and Director of Studies.
- To write reports on the student’s progress and oversee all reports written by the staff.
- To undertake any reasonable additional duties at the request of the Principal.
Person Specification
Essential
- Professionally trained in dance at an elite level, and ideally performed professionally and
- have up to date knowledge of current trends and industry requirements.
- Experience of training professional students, ideally at vocational level
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Understanding of and commitment to child safeguarding in a school setting
