Former students at Coronation Festival

National Youth Ballet performs The Old Man of Lochnagar choreographed by Tring Park alumni Drew McOnie for the Queen's Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace.

Other alumni performing include Jack Allen, Ashley Morgan-Davies, Imogen Myers, Jade Summers-Gutteridge and Ella Mun-Gavin who will be portraying the Black Swan from Swan Lake as part of the fashion datwalk collection of "Diamonds and Pearls".

Abiona Omonua at Menier Chocolate Factory

The European premiere of the musical The Color Purple from the Pullitzer Prize-winning book by Alice Walder comes to the prestigious Menier Chocolate Factory from 5 July with music and lyrics by Grammy award winners Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.  Abiona's recent shows have included Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre and the UK Tour of Hairspray.

From Downton to Cinderella

Former student Lily James who plays Lady Rose MacClare in ITV's Downton Abbey will star as Cinderella opposite Cate Blanchett, who takes the role of her evil stepmother in the new Disney production of Cinderella which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.  Walt Disney Pictures announced the news of her casting as Cinderella with a tweet last night saying: "Just Announced: Actress Lily James will play Cinderella in the live-action interpretation of the beloved classic tale."  Lily will be reprising her role as Lady Rose in series four of Downton.

Tring alumni in Les Miserables

Continuing the recent roll-call of Tring Park alumni in major productions Stuart Neal, Mary Cormack, Sonia Culllingford and Edward French  are all in the cast of the latest hit film of the stage show.

Crazy for You alumni success

Natalie Lipin.jpegAlumni Natalie Lipin (pictured) and Tamsin Dowsett received a great review of their performances in Gershwin's Crazy for You at Highgate's Playhouse which runs till the 27th January.

Tring Park alumni in A Chorus Line

Ashford_Georgie1-.jpgFormer Tring Park students Georgie Ashford and Alastair Postlethwaite were chosen from 2000 hopefuls to play Trisha and Larry respectively in the Broadway Revival of A Chorus Line which opens at the London Palladium in February and promises to be the hottest show of 2013.  Georgie went to ArtsEd London when she left Tring Park Musical Theatre course and most recently appeared in the West End production of Legally Blonde.  Alastair studied on the Dance Course (the first boy to be accepted at Tring Park) and subsequently toured worldwide in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake.   He reached the finals of BBC's So You Think You Can Dance and most recently appeared in the UK tour of Cabaret with Wayne Sleep.

Tring Park alumni joins English National Ballet Company

Senior-Dance-2011-Kesi-Olly-Dory.JPGFormer student Kesi Olley Dorey who studied at Tring Park for 5 years, and in receipt of DaDA funding for two of those years, has gained a contract with English National Ballet Company to start work immediately.

ChoreoFest launches

choreofest_A5_email.JPGOn 1 October Tring Park launched ChoreoFest - a major new Choreography initiative.  Two Tring Park graduates and emerging choreographers - James Loffler and Sally-Anne Wignall - have the unique opportunity for a two-week internship to work with Tim Blowfield (Artistic Director of ChoreoFest) on a Choreography project with Tring's 6th Form dancers.  The goal is to develop talent and invest in the future of Tring Park Choreographers.  Follow their progress on Tring Park's Facebook and Twitter pages!
