Sixth Form Acting Course

Our Sixth Form Acting Course provides a unique opportunity to develop skills and techniques in a dynamic, exciting and professional environment.

Whether a pupil hopes to be an actor or wants to develop a career in the wider Performing Arts, the Acting Course provides the personal, technical and artistic training to help them achieve their goal.

The course is wide-ranging and realistic, providing the best possible chance of success in a market that is notorious for being unpredictable.

On the Acting Course, each student is nurtured and individually guided in their progress. This allows them to grow and develop confidence and maturity. The Acting Course pupils are encouraged to think critically, to have an opinion and to push their own boundaries wherever possible.

Course Summary

The Acting Course is designed to allow pupils who have a love of theatre or film and acting in general to deepen their understanding and immerse themselves into a creative environment where they are submerged into the world of the Performing Arts. They may want to become actors and pursue a career in the theatre and fully explore and assess their potential.

Pupils may have a talent and love of acting and want to study for their A-Levels in a school that that is going to encourage innovation, instil self-confidence and prepare them for their future in a nurturing and creative environment.

Course Structure

The Acting Course has a full and varied programme of study. Classes include: voice, classical and modern text, physical theatre, movement for actors, acting for camera and film-making, acting study, improvisation, dance – which is streamed according to experience and ability, and singing.

A strong theatre company ethos is fostered as part of the Acting Course activities, and students participate in a variety of performances throughout the two years of study. Great emphasis is placed on these productions as they allow pupils to experience a range of different styles of theatre from Theatre in Education to an outdoor Shakespeare production in the summer term.

There are also two large scale productions in the Autumn term and the Tring Park Contemporary Theatre Festival when up to seven plays are performed over two weeks in March.

Fees & Funding

The School offers Scholarships for the Performance Foundation, Musical Theatre, Acting and Commercial Music Courses and Music & Dance Scheme and Dance & Drama Awards for Dancers.
